The Ardèche region

If you have never been to the Ardèche you are in for a real treat! The Ardèche is a hidden jewel of rural France just South of Lyon and North of Avignon with a wonderful climate that enjoys the flow of the four seasons with its far share of sunshine and warmth all year round. Ardeche Property Finder is based in The Eyrieux Valley – a luxuriously green part of the Ardèche and a veritable Eden for lovers of nature. Those in search of deep France – or la France profonde – will not be disappointed.

Southern Ardèche is more renowned for its tourism with the Vallon Pont d’Arc and the famous gorges whereas the Eyrieux Valley – or the centre of the region – is quieter and offers its own spectacular scenery from gorges to mountain peaks.

The Eyrieux Valley borders onto the Massif Central and hides many facets. From the lush chestnut and pine forests to the rugged mountain terrain, from the amazing array of wild flowers and unspoilt countryside to meandering rivers, streams and gorges, from the traditional villages to the wonderfully friendly locals…….. – this region is a true gem and is completely untouched by the modern trappings of life and tourism.

The Ardèche is a truly wonderful region. The people have a real sense of identity and a love of their land, their traditions and the simple things in life; good food, good wine, good company and of course the inevitable pétanque (or boules). Life at its finest and people at their most honest. A recipe for success!

Property here is traditionally built in a light grey coloured stone and the region – although sparsely populated – is peppered with many traditional farming hamlets and villages.

The climate is mild although the seasons do mark their territory. Winter can get quite cold in the higher altitudes. Spring and Summer are wonderful times of year with nature at its finest and the Autumn brings with it amazing colours and the chestnut harvest.
